Important notice to all university graduates !!!!!

The Institute of International Relations and Comparative Law, Faculty of Law at Comenius University in Bratislava, opens new two-year full-time postgraduate programme in October 2012 in accordance with Act No. 568/2009 Coll. on Further Education amending further acts. The study programme focuses on:

  • diplomacy and diplomatic protocol,

  • international law and international relations,

  • European law and European studies,

  • geopolitical specificities of the world,

  • economics,

  • political sciences,

  • English and French legal terminology,

  • Japanese language,

  • Russian language,

  • Facultative lectures by experts, analysts, domestic as well as foreign politicians.

The study programme is designed for all master level graduates and, in particular, for applicants who want to pursue a career in diplomatic and consular service or work as EU or public administration officials, translators or interpreters specialised in EU law terminology, development assistance experts, or experts on approximation of law and EU legislation.

Besides offering an advanced study module, the programme comprises courses on current international and European law issues, participation in Jean Monnet Chair and Jean Monnet Module projects, and the possibility of traineeships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic or at selected embassies abroad. Moreover, students participate in other prestigious international projects and acquire knowledge and skills in the area of training and management of EU projects. Selected courses are taught in English or in French. Most of our graduates hold important positions at home and abroad.

Among our former students are several ambassadors, state secretaries, but also a Member of the European Parliament and other prominent specialists in various areas of public administration, experts working in international organisations and private sphere specialists. The Institute also cooperates with several embassies in Slovakia and abroad.

As a social bonus for the students domiciled outside of Bratislava the assistance in searching for adequate accommodation is offered. Study materials for some of the courses offered at the Institute is provided free of charge. A personalized study plan option can be granted to particular students.

The schedule of courses will be adjusted in order to meet the needs of students, and the teaching timetable will be finalised in consultation with students. The admission and selection procedure includes the examination of the candidate’s CV and motivation letter attached to a completed application form, which shall be sent together with a copy of the master diploma by 20 August 2013. The capacity of the Institute is limited to a maximum of 40 applicants. The selection procedure takes into account also the order of receipt of applications. A fee is charged to partly cover the costs of study.
