Prof. JUDr. Tomáš Strémy, PhD. (1981) graduated from the Faculty of Law at Trnava University. After completing his university studies in 2005, he studied at Sydney College of English. Nowadays, he holds the post of the Vice Dean for Development and Grants and furthermore he is an associate professor at the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Criminalistics at the Faculty of Law at Comenius University in Bratislava. Moreover, he is a member of the Scientific Board at the Faculty of Law at Comenius University in Bratislava and at the Academy of the Police Corps in Bratislava. He held the post of the Vice Dean for Foreign Affairs, Public Relations, Further Education and Project Activities in the past (2011-2015) and was a member of the Scientific Board at the Faculty of Law at Trnava University in Trnava (2013 – 2016). He participated in study visits and lecture visits at the Max Planck Institute in Freiburg (2014, 2015), Scranton University in Pennsylvania (USA) (2015), the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague (2011) and other institutions. He is currently a member of the Working Group for Criminal Law at the Slovak Bar Association. He was previously a member of the Commission for the Criminal Substantive Law (from 23 November 2012 to 5 March 2014), a member of an ad hoc commission for issues concerned with detention (from 9 October 2010 to 8 October 2012) as well as a member of the Working Group for Corporate Criminal Liability Act (from 11 December 2012 to 5 March 2014). He heads up the APVV Project entitled “Restorative Justice and Alternative Sentences under the Law of the Slovak Republic”; he is a co-participant in a number of grant projects, an author and a co-author of several monographs, textbooks, dozens of scholarly papers and an active participant in domestic as well as foreign scholarly events.
