doc. JUDr. PhDr. Tomáš Gábriš, PhD., PhD., PhD., LLM, MA

doc. JUDr. PhDr. Tomáš Gábriš, PhD., PhD., PhD., LLM, MA is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr., 2004, JUDr., 2005, PhD. 2008, doc. 2013), the Faculty of Law of the Trnava University in Trnava (PhD. 2011), the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2006, PhDr. 2009, PhD. 2012), the Central European University in Budapest (MA 2007), Tilburg University in the Netherlands (LLM 2010) and the course of English and European Law within Program British Law Center (Diploma in English and European Union Law 2014). In 2017, at Comenius University in Bratislava, he presented and successfully defended his inaugural lecture in the process of appointment as a professor in the field of theory and history of state and law.

Since 2017, he has been the head of the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where he guarantees at all three levels of study the teaching of courses aimed at theory of law, philosophy and methodology of law and jurisprudence, the law of modern technologies and the legal aspects of sports. At the same time, at the Department of Legal History and Comparative Law he provides teaching of courses from the history of law in Slovakia and in Central Europe.

He has been working as a lecturer and a scientist at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava continuously since 2004. In the past, he also worked at the Faculty of Law of the Trnava University of Trnava and at the Faculty of Mass Communication at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. In 2014 he was a Fellow at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. For the winter semester 2017/2018, he received support from the Fulbright Commission for a research at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) as Fulbright Scholar. He took part in numerous short-term study and lecture stays in Canada (Ottawa), USA (San Francisco), United Kingdom (Leeds), Georgia (Tbilisi), Finland (Helsinki), Belgium (Brussels), Switzerland (Geneva), Slovenia (Ljubljana), Croatia (Rijeka) and Taiwan (Kaohsiung). He regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

He is the author of ten scientific and scholarly monographs, co-author of ten textbooks and author of over 200 other publications published mainly in Central and Western Europe. Thematically he focuses on the history of law and legal thinking, the methodology of legal science, on challenges of modern science and technology for law, and on sports law. In these areas, he also acts as a reviewer of monographs and textbooks and as a grant project assessor.

He is a member of the VEGA Grant Commission for Economic and Legal Sciences. He was involved in 12 grant projects.

He is a member of the Ethics Council of the Comenius University in Bratislava, a member of the Quality Council and a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, the chairman of the commission for the doctoral study program in the field of Theory and History of State and Law at Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, a member of the same committee at the Faculty of Law of the Trnava University of Trnava and regular chairman, a member of commissions and an opponent for defenses of bachelor, master, rigorous, dissertation and habilitation theses.

He is the chairman of the editorial board of the Bratislava Law Review journal, a member of editorial boards of Acta Facultatis Iuridicae Universitatis Comenius (Bratislava), Acta Iuridica Olomucensia (Olomouc) and journal Právní listy (Plzeň) and regular reviewer of contributions to journals Krakowskie studia z państwa i prawa (Krakow) and the Časopis pro právní vědu a praxi (Brno).

As an advocate enrolled in the list of advocates of the Slovak Bar Association (advocate exam passed in 2011), he specializes mainly in civil law, law of modern technologies and sports law. Within the expert legislative activities, he was a member of the Recodification Commission for Civil Procedural Law, that successfully prepared three new civil procedure codes (Acts No. 160-162/2015 Coll.), as well as a member of the working group, which prepared the Act on Sport (Act No. 440/2015 Coll.) and is currently a member of the Recodification Commission for the preparation of the new Civil Code.

In 2011, he worked as a representative for the Slovak Republic in the European Commission body - Expert Group on Sustainable Financing of Sports (Brussels), and also as a representative of the Slovak Republic at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Council of Europe on Spectator Violence (Strasbourg). He is a member of the legislative-legal and ethical commission of the Slovak Football Association, an arbitrator of the Chamber for dispute resolution of Slovak Football Association, a member of the Scientific Committee of the think-tank Sports and Citizenship (France) and a member of the International Association of Sports Law (Greece).

From among Slovak organizations he is a member of the Učená Právnická spoločnosť, the Slovak Society for International Law at SAS, the Slovak Historical Society at SAS and the Slovak Genealogical and Heraldic Society at Matica slovenská.

doc. PhDr. Jarmila Chovancová, CSc.

doc. PhDr. Jarmila Chovancová, CSc. is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 1978, PhDr. 1985, CSc. 1988, doc. 1996). At present she works at the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, where she guarantees at all three levels of study the teaching of courses focused on philosophical and legal theories, the theory of justice and the philosophy of history.

She has been working as a lecturer and a scientist at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava continuously since 1978. In the past she also worked at the Pan-European University in Bratislava and at the J. Jesensky Faculty of Law at the Danubius University. She regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

She is the author and co-author of dozens of scientific and scholar articles, textbooks and monographs. Thematically she focuses on the themes of philosophy, legal philosophy and history of philosophy, as well as on systematic philosophy, the problems of justice, freedom, equality, concepts of social contract in modern times, liberalism, communitarianism and the problems of a fairly organized society. In these areas, she also acts as reviewer of monographs and textbooks. She is a regular chairman and member of commissions and opponent for defences of bachelor, master, rigorous and dissertation theses.

Mgr. Mgr. Andrea Kluknavská, PhD., LL.M.

Mgr. Mgr. Andrea Kluknavská, PhD., LL.M. is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2007, PhD. 2015), the Faculty of Arts of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra (Mgr. 2003) and the Andrassy University in Budapest (Vergleichende Staats- und Rechtswissenschaften, LL.M., 2011). At present she works as an Assistant professor at the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where she teaches at the bachelor and master degree of study the courses focused on theory of law, legal philosophy and sociology of law.

She has been working as a lecturer and a scientist at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava continuously since 2016. She regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

She is the author of numerous scientific and scholarly articles and thematically she focuses on the themes from the area of legal history, theory of law and legal philosophy. At the same time she deals with insurance law. She is a regular member of commissions and opponent for defences of bachelor, master and rigorous theses.

JUDr. Mgr. Michal Mrva, PhD., LLM.

JUDr. Mgr. Michal Mrva, PhD., LLM. is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2007, JUDr. 2009, PhD. 2012), the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2008), and Faculté de Droit d´Économie et de Finance, Université du Luxembourg (LL.M. 2011). Since 2007 he has been working continuously at the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where he teaches subjects focused on theory of law, sociology of law, interpretation of law and eristics in bachelor and master study program.

He is the author and co-author of many of scientific and scholarly articles, textbooks and monographs. Thematically he focuses on theory of law, especially on interpretation and argumentation in law, on current issues of legal practise and eristics. He regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

As an advocate enrolled in the list of advocates of the Slovak Bar Association (advocate exam passed in 2011), he specializes mainly in civil law and commercial law.
