Curricula vitae

doc. PhDr. Jarmila Chovancová, CSc.

doc. PhDr. Jarmila Chovancová, CSc. is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 1978, PhDr. 1985, CSc. 1988, doc. 1996). At present she works at the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, where she guarantees at all three levels of study the teaching of courses focused on philosophical and legal theories, the theory of justice and the philosophy of history.

She has been working as a lecturer and a scientist at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava continuously since 1978. In the past she also worked at the Pan-European University in Bratislava and at the J. Jesensky Faculty of Law at the Danubius University. She regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

She is the author and co-author of dozens of scientific and scholar articles, textbooks and monographs. Thematically she focuses on the themes of philosophy, legal philosophy and history of philosophy, as well as on systematic philosophy, the problems of justice, freedom, equality, concepts of social contract in modern times, liberalism, communitarianism and the problems of a fairly organized society. In these areas, she also acts as reviewer of monographs and textbooks. She is a regular chairman and member of commissions and opponent for defences of bachelor, master, rigorous and dissertation theses.

JUDr. Mgr. Michal Mrva, PhD., LLM.

JUDr. Mgr. Michal Mrva, PhD., LLM. is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2007, JUDr. 2009, PhD. 2012), the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (Mgr. 2008), and Faculté de Droit d´Économie et de Finance, Université du Luxembourg (LL.M. 2011). Since 2007 he has been working continuously at the Department of Theory of Law and Social Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where he teaches subjects focused on theory of law, sociology of law, interpretation of law and eristics in bachelor and master study program.

He is the author and co-author of many of scientific and scholarly articles, textbooks and monographs. Thematically he focuses on theory of law, especially on interpretation and argumentation in law, on current issues of legal practise and eristics. He regularly attends conferences mainly in the Central European region.

As an advocate enrolled in the list of advocates of the Slovak Bar Association (advocate exam passed in 2011), he specializes mainly in civil law and commercial law.
