The Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava and the Faculty of Law of Uzhhorod National University are opening a joint bachelor's double-degree programme, "Law and International Law", taught in English, in the 2026/2027 academic year. It is the first joint cross-border training of lawyers in the history of Slovak–Ukrainian academic relations, accredited in line with the requirements of both the Slovak Republic and the European Union.

The programme combines a classical legal education with an international dimension and is intended for students who wish to complete a university degree in English, as well as for international applicants. Graduates receive a single bachelor's (Bc.) diploma issued jointly by both universities, simultaneously in two specialisations — 30. Law (under the legislation of the Slovak Republic) and D9 International Law (under the legislation of Ukraine). The diploma is recognised across the European education area under the Lisbon Recognition Convention and the Bologna Process.

Study in two countries

The programme lasts four years in full-time form. The first and fourth years take place at the Faculty of Law of Uzhhorod National University, the second and third years at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava. Students thus gain genuine international experience and full integration into the European academic environment. The status of a regular European student also brings practical advantages — a legal basis for a residence permit in Slovakia, mobility within the Schengen area, and access to European educational infrastructure.

Focus and career prospects

The programme centres on European Union law, public and private international law, comparative law, international trade, human rights protection, international arbitration, and the legal aspects of digitalisation. Graduates find positions in international and intergovernmental organisations, EU institutions, law firms and consultancies, public administration bodies and multinational corporations, or may continue to master's studies in law and related fields.

Admissions, tuition and deadline

Tuition is €2,000 per academic year. The admissions procedure consists of an academic component (a minimum of 150 out of 200 points) and a language component, which can be demonstrated by an international certificate at B2 level, by the result of the school-leaving (maturita) examination in English, or by an online test on the Moodle platform; citizens of Ukraine take the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT). The application deadline is 14 September 2026.
