From 5 to 8 September 2029, the Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava will host the 29th Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology, entitled EUROCRIM 2029, with the participation of approximately 2,000 criminologists and criminal law scholars from around the world.

At the most recent meeting, held from 7 to 10 May 2026 on the premises of our faculty, the Executive Board of the European Society of Criminology, together with Prof. JUDr. Tomáš Strémy, PhD., Prof. JUDr. Jozef Čentéš, DrSc., the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava Prof. JUDr. Eduard Burda, PhD., and student Bc. Jakub Ferenčák, discussed the preparation and approval of this planned major conference. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University Bratislava, Prof. Mgr. Marián Zouhar, PhD., for his cooperation and for providing the premises.

After long-term efforts and several participations in the EUROCRIM annual conferences in Bucharest in 2024 and Athens in 2025, along with related meetings and negotiations, we are pleased that our efforts have borne fruit. What seemed like an ambitious plan in Bucharest and a realistic possibility in Athens has now become a reality. Slovakia will be represented for a period of three years by Prof. JUDr. Tomáš Strémy, PhD. on the Executive Board of the European Society of Criminology in Lausanne, Switzerland. Student Bc. Stela Maštalská and Mgr. Alžbeta Šimeková also contributed to the preparation of the candidacy.

EUROCRIM represents a historic event in the field of criminology and is held annually in various European capitals. The conference provides a platform for discussion at the highest scientific level, with potential impact also on Slovak legislation. Given the exceptional importance of this event, we would like to bring the organisation of the conference to your attention already today. Hosting an event of such scale is not only a great honour for our faculty, but also a shared commitment. We would therefore be sincerely pleased to welcome your active participation.

More detailed information can be found in the article on the forthcoming conference published by the News Agency of the Slovak Republic  on the website of the European Society of Criminology: https://esc-eurocrim.org/v2/upcoming-conferences/

We are delighted that the Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava will host this significant international event in 2029, contributing to the development of scientific cooperation and professional dialogue in the fields of criminology and criminal law.
