May 29, 2026, ELU-S 2026
The Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law, Comenius University Bratislava, has achieved a significant success in the field of international academic presentation. Four full-time doctoral students of the Institute — Stela Košťálová, Soňa Juhásová, Lucia Rybanová and Miroslav Sorkovský — have been accepted to deliver active presentations at the international academic ELU-S 2026 Conference, which will take place from 1 to 3 September 2026 in Lisbon at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
The conference, organised by the European Law Unbound Society, is among the notable European academic events focused on current issues of European law, technology regulation and the protection of fundamental rights.
The accepted contributions by the doctoral students reflect current challenges in digital regulation and the protection of human rights in the European context. Their research presentations will focus in particular on a critical assessment of the proposed changes to the General Data Protection Regulation in the context of the forthcoming Digital Omnibus and their potential impact on human rights protection, the protection of fundamental rights in relation to social media and current regulation under the Digital Services Act (DSA), as well as the protection of children in the online environment, particularly in the context of online gaming platforms.
The four doctoral students will be joined by doc. JUDr. Matúš Mesarčík, PhD., LL.M., Deputy Director of the Institute, who will present an academic contribution analysing the risks of digital loneliness in the context of artificial intelligence regulation.
The participation of the Institute’s representatives in the conference marks another step in strengthening the Institute’s international academic visibility and confirms the growing importance of research conducted at the Faculty of Law, Comenius University Bratislava, in the areas of information technology law, digital regulation and the protection of fundamental rights in the online environment.
