At the SOFTECON 2026 conference, Associate Professor Matúš Mesarčík from the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law, Comenius University Bratislava, participated in a panel discussion focused on current issues related to artificial intelligence regulation, the implementation of AI in businesses, and the practical implications of the European AI Act for the corporate environment.
The panel opened the topic of employee education in the field of AI and the need to build AI literacy across organizations. It was emphasized that the successful implementation of artificial intelligence is not only a technological issue, but also a matter of corporate culture, governance, and trust. The discussion also focused on modern approaches to AI governance, internal policies, and risk management in the use of generative AI.
An important part of the discussion addressed the protection of fundamental rights and the assessment of the impact of AI systems on individuals and society. The panel also highlighted examples of European frameworks such as FRIA and HUDERIA, which focus on evaluating the impact of AI on human rights, democracy, and the principles of the rule of law.
It was emphasized that the future competitiveness of companies will depend not only on the extent to which they adopt AI, but above all on their ability to build trustworthy, transparent, and responsible AI systems.
