10 April 2026, Milwaukee, USA
From 6 to 10 April 2026, four members of the ALTAML project completed a professional study and research stay at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, USA. The Faculty was represented by Jozef Andraško, MAtúš Mesarčík, Jana Zigo and Lukáš Macko. The programme of the visit included participation in academic events, meetings with faculty members and the leadership of the Law School, class visits, and joint research activities.
Marquette University Law School is among the respected law schools in the United States. According to the U.S. News Best Graduate Schools 2025–26 ranking, it is placed among the top 60 law schools in the country, ranking 59th.
As part of the professional programme, the project members attended a Faculty Workshop, the IP Colloquium Series, and class visits focused on Privacy, Constitutional Law, and Conflict of Laws. The stay also included working meetings with faculty members and provided space for expert discussions on current issues in law and technology, privacy protection, digital regulation, and modern methods of legal research.
A particularly important part of the programme was the meeting with Joseph D. Kearney, Dean of Marquette University Law School, during which the participants discussed possibilities for further cooperation between the two faculties, especially in the areas of student exchanges, staff mobility, and joint academic events.
The study stay also created an opportunity to present research activities and to exchange experience and best practices in the use of advanced technological and methodological approaches in legal research, including legal text analysis, digital regulation, and the interdisciplinary connection between law and technology.
During the stay, the delegation was accompanied by Professor Karen Sandrik, to whom special thanks are due for her warm welcome, academic support, and for creating excellent conditions for professional meetings and scholarly exchange.
The visit to Marquette University Law School represents another step in developing the international academic cooperation of our Faculty and confirms the importance of connecting legal research with current technological and societal challenges.
