Soňa Juhásová wins the Best Speaker Award
February 27, 2026, LAITech Student Conference, Estonia
The LAITech Student Conference: The Law, Ethics and Policies of AI and Future Technologies is an international conference organized by TalTech Law School that brings together students, academics, and experts in the fields of law and technology. Discussions focus primarily on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the regulation of digital platforms, and the protection of human rights in the digital world.
Our doctoral student, Mgr. Soňa Juhásová, presented on the topic "New Eden for Free Speech? How Fediverse Reshapes the Future of Online Speech through the Lens of Digital Constitutionalism."
"In my presentation, I focused on how the decentralized architecture of the Fediverse may pose a challenge to the model of digital constitutionalism reflected in the Digital Services Act. Although decentralized social networks can empower users and help limit the concentration of power held by digital platforms, they also raise new questions regarding accountability, procedural safeguards, and the protection of freedom of expression.
In this paper, I therefore examine the extent to which the principles enshrined in the DSA can be transferred and applied in decentralized environments. In conclusion, I also propose normative recommendations aimed at more effectively protecting freedom of expression in such systems."
Mgr. Soňa Juhásová’s presentation was honored with the Best Speaker Award.
Mgr. Miroslav Sorkovský and Bc. Viktória Virágová also spoke at the conference.
