Programme Structure
All students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 120 ECTS in two academic years including a master thesis and a state examination. Mandatory courses of the programme comprise 64 ECTS. Minimum of 40 ECTS shall be chosen from the mandatory-elective courses including participation in one of the moot courts. The remaining 16 ECTS shall be selected by the student form the list of elective courses. Some electives may be offered on a temporary basis.
(explanation to "year/semester": number means year of the study and W, S is the semester of the study - e.g. 1W = 1st year and winter/first semester, 2S = 2nd year and summer/second semester)

The applicant is not admitted to any specific legal concentration, however during his studies, the student can select among the mandatory-elective courses according to his individual interests. One elective concentration offered is Law of International Trade focusing primarily on the private law elements of International and European Business Law. Another elective concentration is Law of International Organizations dealing with public law elements of International and European Law.
Mandatory-elective subjects are divided into several groups of pairs and student is obliged to choose at least one subject within this pair, according to his specialization - e.g. student has to choose one subject from the pair Company Law and International Relations; one subject from History of Private Law and History of Public Law and so on.
Among these mandatory-elective subjects we also include the moot subject (5+5 ECTS) - teaching begins in the summer semester of the first year (1S) and continues in the winter semester of the second year (2W).

Elective courses
Students have the opportunity to choose also an elective course / courses according to the current offer of courses taught in English (to complete the condition of having in total at least 120 ECTS), with the condition that they didn´t attend this subject / these subjects during their previous studies. That means, that students can´t choose a subject which is classified as a mandatory and mandatory-elective subject in this study structure.

Students can also choose a subject provided by the Faculty of Arts - Slovak as a Foreign Language, which is for 5 ECTS.
