Reconstruction of new premises

INTRODUCTORY REMARKS BY THE DEAN

 

Dear Alumni, friends of the Faculty of Law, students, colleagues,

 

I am pleased to inform you that in October 2020 the Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Law acquired new premises - about 2000 m2 – on the Vajanského nábreží No. 10 in Bratislava, which is opposite to the existing building of the Faculty of Law on the Šafárikovo nám. No. 6 in Bratislava.

This is great news, as with the development of new practical study programmes (more information available here), the need for more classrooms at current building has increased substantially, and next academic year they will not even be sufficient. Moreover, in small offices often up to four teachers sit together, which is an environment unsuitable for a decent academic work. The new building will solve these problems for many decades and the Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Law will be able to compete with prestigious foreign law faculties in this parameter as well.

However, as most good news has its "buts" it is neither different in this case. We have been granted financial support for the purchase of the building from the Government's reserve, but we do not have the sufficient financial sources for its reconstruction. And we would like to raise it from private sources and from you by means of a public collection and by donating 2% of your taxes. It doesn't have to be a huge amount at all. However, if a lot of good people come together for a good cause, a little bit at a time can do wonders.

Therefore, I would like to ask you very kindly to contribute to the renovation of the new premises of the Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Law. We strive to continuously improve and to make a positive impact on the legal environment in Slovakia through the better preparation of students. Without you we will find it more difficult.
