Institute of Criminology, Sociology of Law and Judicial Research
The Institute of Criminology, Sociology of Law and Judicial Research, within the framework of the educational process, focuses on teaching interdisciplinary subjects whose foundations are primarily rooted in the field of criminal law, as well as in the findings of empirical sciences dealing with crime and society.
The main objective of teaching the courses Criminology and Sanctioning, as well as the Institute’s participation in teaching criminal law, is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the causes and control of crime, the imposition and execution of criminal sanctions, and the role of law in society, while drawing on knowledge from various branches of law and other scientific disciplines. The teaching process is carried out in an innovative manner, through the analysis of real criminological data and the resolution of practical cases.
Members of the Institute are also engaged in scientific research in the fields of criminology, criminal policy, sociology of law, and judicial research. They actively participate in both international and Slovak scientific conferences and publish the results of their work in both international and domestic academic publications.
