Institute of Economic Sciences

The Institute of Economic Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava was established on March 1st., 2015. Its predecessors at the Faculty of Law since its inception were: Department of National Economy, Department of Political Economy, Department of Economic Sciences and Department of Economic Sciences and Law of Information and Communication Technologies. The teaching of economic subjects has a long tradition at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University. In history, many important personalities worked at the department, such as prof. JUDr. Imrich Karvaš. The Institute of Economic Sciences provides teaching of economic subjects, the aim of which is to expand the knowledge of law students and to understand the theoretical and practical contexts and interconnectedness of legal and economic problems. Currently, the institute offers in accredited study programs subjects such as Basics of Economics for Lawyers, Business Economics and Accounting, Economics and Economic Relations in the EU, Economic and Legal Aspects of Risk in Business, Basics of Accounting and the subject Introduction to Law and Economics in Slovak and English language.
