Institute of Economic Sciences

The Institute of Economic Sciences of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava (“the Institute”) was established on 1 March 2015. Its predecessors at the Faculty of Law from the day the Faculty came into existence were the following ones: Department of National Economy, Department of Political Economy, Department of Economic Sciences and Department of Economic Sciences, IT Law and Communication Technology Law. Therefore, the courses on economics have already been offered at the Faculty for a long time. Moreover, there were several significant personalities working at this Institute such as prof. JUDr. Imrich Karvaš. The Institute provides a number of courses on economics the aim of which is to enrich the law students' legal knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical relationships and links between legal and economic issues. The Institute currently offers these courses: Fundamentals of Economics for Lawyers, Corporate Economics and Accounting, Corporate Economics, Economics and Economic Relations in EU, Economic Policy, Basics of Accounting.
