This research project focuses on a legal-historical analysis of the crime of parasitism in Czechoslovakia between 1956 and 1990, with a specific emphasis on its application in relation to women engaged in prostitution. The main objective of the project is to examine the normative development of the factual basis of parasitism, as well as its practical application in criminal law practice, through a systematic analysis of legal regulations, contemporary professional literature, and archival sources, in particular court decisions and files of law enforcement authorities. The project is based on the assumption that the crime of parasitism was an important tool of state control of socially undesirable phenomena under the socialist regime, and that its application to women engaged in prostitution had not only a repressive but also a significant disciplinary and ideological dimension. The research therefore focuses on identifying the interpretative approaches of public authorities, analyzing the gender aspects of criminal repression, and assessing the degree of discrepancy between the legal regulation and its actual application in practice.
