Mgr. Andrea Szakács, PhD. graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava. In 2016, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled Legal Aspects of Double Taxation and Double Non-Taxation and obtained a PhD degree in Commercial and Financial Law. In the same year, she joined the Department of Financial Law at the Faculty of Law, Comenius University in Bratislava, as an Assistant Professor. In 2026, she successfully completed her habilitation proceedings in Commercial and Financial Law, defending her habilitation thesis and delivering a habilitation lecture devoted to current issues and developments in tax law.She has broadened her academic expertise through study and research stays at the Faculty of Law of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law of the University of Vienna, Austria. She has participated as a researcher and co-researcher in several national scientific projects, including APVV, VEGA and KEGA projects, and has co-organised numerous international scientific conferences.Her research, teaching and publication activities focus primarily on tax law, with particular emphasis on international and European tax law. In addition to her academic career, she has gained extensive professional experience at both the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic and the National Bank of Slovakia, where she has been engaged in matters relating to financial market regulation and supervision, tax law, and public finance. This combination of academic expertise and practical regulatory experience significantly enriches her scholarly and professional profile.
