An innovative digital learning tool for cross-border healthcare in the European Union KEGA

About the project

An innovative digital learning tool for cross-border healthcare in the European Union

Principal Investigator: doc. JUDr. Mária Nováková, PhD.

Implementation: 2026 - 2028

The goal of the project is to create a modern, digital, and interactive educational tool that will serve to educate students of law and healthcare disciplines in the field of cross-border healthcare within the European Union. The tool will be an innovative resource to support teaching in interdisciplinary areas where law, healthcare, and European integration intersect. Didactically, the tool will be based on a combination of textual materials, interactive diagrams, case studies, and visual elements that will facilitate the understanding of complex legal and medical contexts. The content will include an overview of European Union and Slovak Republic legislation, practical examples, simulations of decision-making processes in selected model situations, interactive tests, and educational videos. Additionally, a methodological guide for educators will be created to help effectively integrate this tool into teaching. The project reflects the current needs of practice, particularly the increasing mobility of patients within the European Union, the growing importance of awareness of patient rights, and the obligations of healthcare providers. The aim is to enhance the legal and professional awareness of future professionals regarding the rules for providing healthcare in a cross-border context, through an innovative, accessible, and practically-oriented tool. The project also supports the digital transformation of education and takes into account the principles of open education, ensuring that the resulting tool will be accessible to other educators and professionals outside the main academic environment. It is expected that the project outputs will contribute not only to the modernization of teaching but also to better preparing graduates for the practical challenges in the field of European healthcare law and cross-border healthcare mobility.
