Principal investigator: prof. JUDr. Ján Svák, DrSc.

Implementation: 2026 - 2029

The project “The Individual as a Subject of International Law” examines the position of the individual in international law, his legal subjectivity and the protection of rights. In the context of current geopolitical changes, such as the war in Ukraine, it focuses on the permanent integration of the individual into international law. The project analyzes various aspects of international legal subjectivity, including human rights, diplomatic protection, criminal liability, and environmental rights. It examines the implementation of the Aarhus Convention, consumer protection in the digital environment, international child abduction, and climate change. The methodology includes analytical, comparative, interpretative, empirical, and historical methods. The project outputs include scientific publications, practical recommendations, methodological manuals, and proposals for legislative changes. The project will contribute to strengthening the legal protection of individuals at both the national and international levels, improving legal certainty and more effective enforcement of rights.
