Modernisation of imprisonment in the context of European standards

The current project is a continuation of the earlier successful project VEGA - 1/0542/17 - Evaluation of the implementation and future development of the sanction mechanism after 10 years of effectiveness of the penal codes in the Slovak Republic. The project focuses on the resolution of the issues of more effective release of persons from the execution of a sentence under parole, the readiness of convicts for life after the execution of a prison sentence, the re-socialization of convicts, the existing conditions in the execution of a prison sentence, the observance of human rights and freedoms during the execution of a sentence, the internal norms of the Prison and Court Guard Service ("ZVJS"), which regulate the decision-making on the rights and obligations of convicts, their placement, disciplinary rewards and punishments. The result of the project should be legislative recommendations for modern and effective execution of imprisonment in the spirit of European standards.
